Example AB962 Program Statements
Ultimately, your program statement is a reflection on your program, goals, strategy and so on. So, examples are meant to inspire but not prescribe.
Please review the examples below and then decide what is best for your organization. You should write your own – as only you can tell your Diversity and inclusion journey best. These examples are short statements – but there is no minimum or maximum length, so if you have a lot to say – you should!
Sample Policy Statement 1
[my organization] is committed to providing access to business opportunities for women, ethnic minorities, veterans, and LGBTQ+ communities interested in providing business solutions to support our delivery of healthcare. We are guided by the best practices of our Supply Chain priorities and committed to local and regional purchases where possible. Core to our mission is the advancing of health equity which includes addressing the social determinants of health utilizing tools of supply chain diversity, local economies, and environmental sustainability.
Sample Policy Statement 2
In order to ensure [my organization] meets the mandates of EOS-02-06 and Military and Veterans Code section 999.2 et seq. to support California's SB/DVBE business owners, it is [my organization] policy to first seek SB/DVBE participation in all solicitations unless there is a strong, documented business reason for not doing so. Furthermore, [my organization] is working to expand its SB/DVBE contracting and procurement policies by providing consideration and preference to qualified Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) whenever feasible and practical. [my organization] goal is to develop a program plan that promotes use of DBE’s in its contractual agreements and procurement.
Good luck!
